Tosh Takes On a Touchy Subject

7/11/2012

Daniel Tosh is in trouble again for being...well, for being Daniel Tosh. In a stand-up performance at the Laugh Factory, Tosh supposedly took rape jokes to a whole new level.

In a scathing blogpost review, a female audience member claims that she was singled out after making the statement, "Actually, rape jokes are never funny," with a hypothetical joke from Tosh about her being raped.

The anonymous woman outlined the entire deal in her post. However according to Jaime Masada, owner of the comedy club, her version wasn't the exact order of events. Masada claims that Tosh said something along the lines of it "sounds" like she was getting raped when she screamed out her comment. Both the woman and Masada also disagree as to whether or not she stayed to watch the rest of the performance or left in protest.

Believe who you want to believe. Either way, Daniel Tosh still apologized on his Twitter account and went on to defend his comic style.

On one hand, the critics are right. Rape is a very sensitive topic and should never be taken lightly.

On the other hand, being offensive is what Tosh is known for. He has made fun of anything and everything regardless of boundaries. The female victim/heckler (depending on how you see it) also admitted that she didn't even know who Tosh was when he came on stage.
