The man disappears for six years and BAM, the one-and-only Dave Chappelle shows up in Austin for a surprise gig last night at the Paramount Theatre. Fans flocked to get tickets and the show sold out faster than you could say, "I'm Rick James, bitch!"

But unfortunately, ATX did not give him the usual warm, Texan welcome. There was a surprisingly large amount of hecklers and generally foul people in the audience that essentially ruined the experience for everyone else.

Behavior of the Austin audience at the Dave Chappelle show at the Paramount was appalling. Inane, mouth-breathing stupidity. Embarrassing.

Chappelle reportedly didn't have that much material to begin with. However, most audience members agreed that it didn't give the morons an excuse to yell at the comic legend.

But if you're in 99% that truly love Chappelle and want another chance to see his stand-up, it's not time to lose hope even after last night's disappointment.

The Paramount Theater, who received a good amount of gruff from fans about the whole affair, took to their Facebook page to post their response to the situation, stating, "We are not new to comedy and are quite familiar with the removal of that base creature known as The Heckler. We had a veritable slew of them last night and, because of it, the experience was diminished for many. That is a tragic thing. " Read their full statement here.
