Catch Demetri Martin at The Scottish Rite

From his appearances on The Daily Show to his popular stand-up specials, Demetri Martin has become the premiere hipster comedian in America. Specializing in deadpan one-liners and absurd observations, Martin often incorporates music into his act, and is possibly best known for using markers and a giant paper tablet to create visual jokes. He makes sketches, analyzes and rearranges words to create humor. While trying to get a career in stand-up going by performing at comedy clubs and open mics around New York, Martin not only dropped-out at the end of his second year of law school but also worked a series of odd jobs. However, later In 2003, Martin won the Perrier Award at the International Fringe Festival for his first one-man show, If I. He released a comedy album called These Are Jokes and then created and starred in his own television series called Important Things with Demetri Martin.Martin isn’t slowing down in 2013, he is coming to Austin, Texas on April 4 for his POINT YOUR FACE AT THIS standup/book tour. The tickets can be purchased here. Also, Martin has brown hair, and he is allergic to peanuts. You can find him at www.demetrimartin.com, at www.facebook.com/demetrimartin, on Twitter ... Super Bowl 2013: The Top 3 Funniest Commercials

Super Bowl XLVII is over. The Baltimore Ravens won. And no matter which team you were pulling for to win the big one, there’s one thing we can all agree on: 2013 proved that there is no battle more fierce, no competition more intense than that of advertisers fighting for your attention and wallets. This year’s Super Bowl commercials were no exception. Companies spared no expense or ounce of creativity just to ensure that you’ll remember them and their products. Watch the funniest commercials we chose for you! Enjoy and have a good laugh again! Taco Bell: “Viva Young”: When some octogenarians bust out of their retirement home, they get into all kinds of teenage trouble: Regrettable tattoos, public displays of affection, breaking and entering, pyrotechnics, and finally, some late night Taco Bell. The directors found some great character actors — especially that guy who presses his nipple against the restaurant window — and a cool Spanish rendition of “We Are Young,” by the band fun. (The Washington Post - The 5 best Super Bowl commercials of 2013) Best Buy, “Asking Amy”: “Does it make you uncomfortable when I use the word ‘Dongle’?” Oh, Amy Poehler. So flirty and delightfully ... Read More...

Rolling Stone: The 50 Funniest People Now

Rolling Stone Magazine is taking a cue from the rapid growth of the nationwide comedy scene, and recently made a list of “The 50 Funniest People Now”, including stand-ups, TV hosts, Twitterers, radio personalities, septuagenarians and sports analysts who are bringing the most lols right now. In making this list, they took the “now” part seriously, and focused on comedians’ recent work. Cult-to-mainstream favorite Louis C.K. nabs the number one spot - “He can make you laugh, and cry, just by eating ice cream, a whole pint of it, straight out of the carton, while lying in bed,” Rolling Stone described him as, “A funny man who contains multitudes.” Recent 2013 Screen Actors Guild Female actor in a comedy series winner Tina Fey takes third place - “The writer-producer-actor-author has become a do-it-all icon and a trailblazer for similarly versatile female comedians,” this line nails her mystique. Check here to see if your favorite funny man or lady made the list. Read More...
